What it is
Phyn’s Smart Water Assistant is a combination of smart meter and AI that analyses how water is used in your house. Phyn’s proprietary leak detection technology utilises high definition ultrasonic sensors to sample the pressure in your plumbing system 240 times every second. This gives the stress system an unparalleled view of the unique signatures of each fixture in your home. Imagine knowing when you opened the kitchen faucet, took a shower, watered the lawn and whether you have a leak. Phyn provides the information to help you save water. The product is self-installed under the kitchen sink where it connects to the hot and cold water line of the house.
Challenge
Phyn was looking to build on the success of their first product and make their technology available to a larger audience. We were looking to develop a product that could be end-user-installed and sell for half the price of it’s larger sibling, Phyn Plus.

We created a visual language anchored deeply within phyn’s mission statement.

By doing so we created an iconic read with deep ties into the very heart of the brand with the longevity to live in Phyn products for years to come.
The product envelopes the water pipe and illustrates the flow of water within. Phyn seemingly makes the pipe transparent for the user and takes the mystery out of what is happening within the pipe.

We completely re-envisioned the product for installation through iterative development and testing.
Instead of piping the water to the device we encased the pressure and flow sensors in separate enclosures and and ran them to the water valves.
This way we reduced installation time by 70% and eliminated the risk of leak points making this a truly self-installable product.
